TESTING RESOURCES for STUDENTS AND PARENTS
The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, October 14. This is valuable test that helps students prepare for the college entrance test, the SAT. It provides informative feedback for students as to their strengths and weaknesses in preparation for the SAT. We recommend this test for all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders who are interested in attending college. Exceptional scores could qualify a student for a National Merit Scholarship (11th grade only). Go to www.collegeboard.com for more details. The cost is $14, but students can qualify for a fee reduction if they are part of the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. The CAHSEE, California High School Exit Exam, will be given to all sophomores on February 2nd and 3rd. Attendance by sophomores is important on these dates. All students must pass the exit exam in order to receive a high school diploma. Tests for juniors or seniors who have not passed will be on November 3rd and 4th, and on May 11th and 12th. If you have any questions regarding this test, please contact Mrs. Kern. The STAR tests, content standards tests for the state of California, will be given from April 19 to April 30. It is very important that all students attend school on these days.
The AP Exams will be given from May 3 through May 13. You can go to www.apcentral.collegeboard.com for more information regarding the schedule as well as each individual subject test. Students in AP classes who plan to take the AP test must pay the test fee of $84 by January 31, or speak with Ms. Kern regarding payment.
If you have questions about these tests, or any other testing matters, you can contact Ms. Kern at (760)765-0606 x129.
